tips from Gaiatri Yoga

i have posted sum very luvely ideas for our spring mornings from the Gaiatri Yoga website, full uv nature springing all around us with the rising sun.  Ayurveda has been an interest since i accidently fell upon a documentary in the Vancouver Public Library downtown.  It fascinated me, this practise that dates so long ago, a medicine based on plants, ancient healing practises, and centered around PREVENTION  how to keep our bodies healthy, NOW functioning peacefully, smoothly.

For me,  there is nothing more important than the health and happiness uv our beautiful god given bodies that hold our luscious god luving spirits.  so sweet our bodies we travel in this world in them, lets look after ourselves!

Ayurvedic Tips For Spring

1.Start your day with a 6 to 8 oz. glass of warm or room temperature water with either a squeeze of lemon or a few slices of ginger. This will initiate your kidneys and intestines to start flushing.

2. For breakfast eat fruit, berries, apples and pears or have granola with dried fruit like raisins, cranberries, or plums. Eat only enough breakfast to get you comfortably to lunch without hunger pangs.

3. Sip hot water, herb tea (ginger, fennel, clove, cinnamon, or lemon) with honey throughout the day. Often hunger is really the body being thirsty.

4. Eat a large lunch, make this the biggest meal of the day, or eat your heaviest items during lunch in order to provide plenty of time to fully digest before bed. Historically supper was meant to be supplemental and not a main meal.

5. Eat only when the sun is up, the rest of the time you are fasting for the morning. Start retraining your body to begin burning stored fat.

6.Warm up your insides as well by adding more spices to your meals. Black pepper, garlic, ginger, chillies, also turmeric, coriander, cumin, cinnamon, cardamom, and fennel are great digestive spices. Most importantly make changes that are easy for your lifestyle so that they stick.
